Singer-Songwriter Shannon Wexelberg
The Story Of My Life...The New CD |
continued...
Although her previous radio success has been found at inspirational radio through such number one songs as When I Think About The Lord, and the duet she composed and sang with Matthew Ward, You Are My Refugeboth from multi-artist projectsStory Of My Life covers new territory for Shannon as a vocalist, musician and songwriter.
"My songwriting is the way I chronicle my relationship with the Lord. The mountains and valleys reflected in my songs mirror the journey He's taken me on, says Wexelberg. Whether it be in praise and worship, or the more pop approach of Story of My Life, at the core you will find me at the piano, making melody to the One who's the Theme of every line."
As a songwriter, Wexelberg has had more than 20 of her songs recorded for various projects, including Christ For The Nations and Maranatha! Music releases. From 1998 to 2001, she was a clinician for Maranatha! Worship Leader Workshops, and she has additionally led worship for Family Lifes I Still Do Marriage Conferences, the National Day of Prayer, and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Experience aside, it was Shannons voice and songwriting that brought her to the attention of new label, Doxology Records. A friend of ours walked into our office and played us one song, says Dan Posthuma, president of Doxology Records. We were all stunned. The exquisite power, and yet tenderness, of her voice seemed to perfectly express the comfort and passion of her songs. Later when we met Shannon, we were moved by her calling to share these gifts and to serve the Church.
In line with Doxology Records vision to introduce their artists beginning in the churches where they find their foundation and support, plans are underway for a live recording at Wexelbergs home church of Resurrection Fellowship in Loveland, CO. This live recording, which will feature songs from her debut as well as worship songs and hymns, will be a free bonus CD packaged with Story Of My Life.
Shannon Wexelberg , originally from Boulder, CO, has recently relocated to Nashville, TN, with her husband, Mark, of 9 years. A graduate of Dallas Baptist University and Christ For The Nations Institute, her fall schedule leading up to the release of her debut includes appearances for American Association of Christian Counselors, Christ For The Nations Womens Conference and the annual Praise Gathering, which is slated to draw upwards of 12,000 music fans.
Doxology Records is based in Franklin, TN, and is headed by President Dan Posthuma, with the support of a multi-faceted Board of Directors that includes veterans in all facets of Christian music. The label is distributed to the Christian retail marketplace through Chordant Music Distribution (a div. of EMI). The labels debut release, Somebodys Praying Me Through, from new artist Allen Asbury, hit stores in mid-June 2002.
