The Message is a refreshingly unique Bible-reading experience. With no formal language and no verse numbers, this Bible reads like a letter from an old friend. Because its easier to understand, its easier to make the connection between what youre reading and what it means for your everyday life.

READ IT FOR YOURSELF! In the following excerpt from Genesis....
First this: God created the Heavens and the Earthall you see, all you dont see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. Gods spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss. God spoke: Light! And light appeared. God saw that light was good and separated light from dark. God named the light Day, He named the dark Night. It was evening, it was morning. Day One. FROM GENESIS 1 |

Heres what people are saying about The Message!
The Message is great for those who have never heard Gods Word, as well as for those who have heard it so many times that they cannot grasp the meaning anymore.
Pastor J., Lafayette, CA
The Message has given me a new joy in reading the Bible. It captures something that has been missing . . .the joy and freshness of the relationship God has with His people.
F.W., Lakeland, FL
After 30 years of study I finally get it. The Message is so easy to read. Chapter after chapter, the language relates to where I am in todays world.

From the Author...
Eugene Peterson
Ten years ago, when I agreed with NavPress to do what turned out to be The Message, I had no idea what was ahead. The kind of work that I had been doing for much of my adult life with my congregation and a few friends was, it seemed, overnight drawing appreciative responses from all over the country (and eventually, from all over the world). You, and others like you, made this possible. You took what I did in my cramped little study and helped spread the word.
