Liz Curtis Higgs has presented more than 1,500 encouraging programs for audiences in all 50 states, Germany, England, Canada, Ecuador, France, and Scotland. In 1995, Liz received the Council of Peers Award for Excellence from the National Speakers Association, becoming one of only 40 women in the world named to the CPAE-Speaker Hall of Fame.
Feature articles about Liz have appeared in more than 250 major newspapers and magazines across the country, and she has been interviewed on more than 600 radio and television stations, including guest appearances on PBS/Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, A & E, MS•NBC, NPR, CBC Canada, BBC Radio Scotland, Focus on the Family, and Janet Parshall’s America.
A member of Novelists, Inc., Liz has focused her latest writing efforts toward historical fiction, particularly novels set in eighteenth-century Scotland. Heaven help us, Jamie. Your father has...Och! I cannot bear it.” Jamie watched his mother storm about the fading gardens of Glentrool. Up and down she walked, hands waving through the air as she fretted over Alec McKie’s latest blunder. After two dozen years beneath her roof Jamie was well acquainted with his mother’s theatrics. He simply folded his arms across his blue serge waistcoat and waited.
The forenoon sun lit the grassy paths but did not warm them. A crisp autumn wind rustled through the pines and sent a golden pile of rowan leaves swirling about his buckskin breeches and her billowing gray skirts. Rowena, named for the hallowed tree with its bright red berries, grabbed the fabric of her dress with both hands and shook hard, sending dust and leaves flying. “It’s not fair, what the man has done. Not fair at all!”
“I’m sure you’re right, Mother.” A smile played at the corners of his mouth. Despite her age and agitated state, Rowena McKie still made a sonsie sight.
